A guest who left a hotel with the duvet from her room is now waking up to the fact she broke the law.

Shanice Torrance (21) was staying in the Helix Hotel, Kerse Road, Grangemouth, when she stole the bedding and owners promptly reported the theft to police.

Appearing at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday, Torrance, 22 Livingstone Drive, Laurieston, pled guilty to the June 3 theft.

The court heard the value of the goods removed was £100 and Torrance was captured on CCTV taking the items.

John Mulholland, defence solicitor, said: “She was slightly surprised by the value of the duvet. There was a dispute while she was staying there. She had a very young child who she had wrapped in the duvet cover.”

Sentence was deferred on Torrance for six months to see if she could be of good behaviour.
