A medieval style fort that features a famous Hollywood prop has been wrecked by mindless vandals.
Clanranald Trust’s Duncarron Medieval Village in the Carron Valley between Denny and Fintry was smashed up by sick yobs last Saturday who kicked their way in, destroyed lovingly carved wooden horses, smashed up a hand-built cart and overturned tables.
Signs and advice boards were also destroyed. Hollywood A-lister Russell Crowe supports the trust and donated a £60,000 replica battering ram called Rosie from Ridley Scott’s movie ‘Robin Hood’ after becoming friends with the trust’s chief executive Charlie Allan when they met on the set of classic film ‘Gladiator’.
Mr Allan’s wife Malin said: “Everything at Duncarron is handmade. We can get replacement materials, but it’s the time and effort that volunteers have put to making these things that makes it so sad.”
The trust has appealed for volunteers and firms willing to help repair some damage to gather on Sunday, April 18.
