Thug grabbed woman by the throat in Falkirk nightclub

Things got violent between a couple in a nightclub and shocked revellers looked on as a man seized his partner by the throat.

Appearing at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Thursday, Derek McNab (24) admitted the assault he committed at Temple, Burnbank Road, Falkirk on February 29.

Sean Maher, procurator fiscal depute, said: “At 2.15am the accused seized the complainer by the throat and held on to her for a short time before letting go. The matter was brought to the attention of police.”

McNab admitted what he had done to police officers, who noted there were no injuries to the complainer.

Defence solicitor William McIntyre said: “He apologised to her through a third party – he is deeply apologetic. There is no intention of reconciliation.”

Sheriff Derek Hamilton took account of McNab’s previous conviction for a domestic offence.

He fined McNab, 46 Poplar Street, Grangemouth, £400 to be paid at £40 per week.
