A sneak thief was caught after concerned neighbours raised the alarm.

Residents in Carron Place, Grangemouth, called police after they spotted a man acting suspiciously in the area.

And during the early hours of Monday morning officers arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with thefts from cars.

Items that had been stolen were later found in the man’s possession.

He appeared from custody at Falkirk Sheriff Court the next day and pled guilty to theft. He will be sentenced at a later date.

A police spokesman said: ''We would like to remind the public that simple precautions can be taken to deter and prevent thefts from occurring.

''Always check that your vehicle is locked and secured and never leave valuables in sight.''
