Teenager knocked fellow HMYOI Polmont inmate unconscious with one punch

A young offender is back behind bars after punching a fellow inmate and knocking him unconscious.

Dylan Rigby (18), Flat 4, 2 Kidlaw, Edinburgh, admitted assaulting the man to his injury at HMYOI Polmont on February 10 last year.

Falkirk Sheriff Court heard last Thursday that Rigby attacked his victim because the man had used his shower gel.

Procurator fiscal depute Rebecca Scott said: “One of the prison officers spoke to the accused who intimated to him he assaulted the victim because he had used his shower gel and further stated that he deserved it and didn’t care if he died.”

Sheriff Derek Livingston sentenced Rigby to four months’ detention, reduced from six because of his early guilty plea.
