Teenage girls left '˜alarmed' after being followed

On separate occasions, James Gillies (21) followed the two teenagers while he was on his bike, blowing kisses at one and whistling at another. He then broke his bail conditions by entering Grangemouth to threaten a man he thought had “grassed” on him.

Appearing from custody at Falkirk Sheriff Court, Gillies previously pled guilty to placing the 15-year-olds in a state of fear and alarm in Westcliffe Court and Central Avenue, Grangemouth on May 9 and May 12 last year. He also admitted threatening behaviour in Westcliffe Court on May 12 and breaking his bail at Portal Road, Grangemouth by entering the town.

The court heard Gillies showed up outside someone’s house and made violent threats.

Procurator fiscal depute Siobhan Monks said: “It was 7pm and they heard the accused’s voice outside. He shouted ‘Gary you grass – I’m going to smash your head in’.

“They looked out and saw him hitting something against a metal pole.”

Gillies, who was homeless at the time of the offences, accepted he should not have been in the Grangemouth area, but stated he had nowhere else to stay and had been sleeping rough.

Sheriff Derek Livingston sentence Gillies, 21 Wallbrae Road, South Carbrain, Cumbernauld, to six months in prison back dated to February 21.
