Police had to call for backup as they tried to arrest Stewart McInroy in Grahams Road in Falkirk.

Falkirk Sheriff Court heard last Thursday that the 25-year-old lashed out with his fists and tried to bite and spit on officers during the shock incident on February 12.

It took eight of them to put McInroy in leg restraints, but in the police van he kicked a female police officer on the head and legs.

The thug, from McBeth Road in Dunfermline, later apologised to her for his behaviour and claimed the kick was “accidental”.

His lawyer said: “He came to Falkirk and ended up making an absolute nuisance of himself.”

As a direct alternative to jail McInroy was placed on a restriction of liberty order that will keep him at home between 7pm and 7am every day for the next six months.
