Boswell appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday having pled guilty to the theft he committed on March 13 last year.

Stephen Biggam, defence solicitor, said: “Unfortunately he has not been in a position to repay that debt, but it is still his intention to do that.”

Boswell was placed on a supervised community payback order for two years with the condition he complete 280 hours unpaid work within 12 months and pay the £400 back at a rate of £20 per month.

He was also tagged electronically and made subject to a restriction of liberty order – to stay in his 41 Sunnyside Street, Camelon home from 7pm to 7am – for four months.
