A bogus caller stole an elderly woman’s handbag from her home in Falkirk.
Police are appealing for information on the incident which took place at 4 p,m. yesterday in Blairdenon Crescent,.
A man arrived at the 80-year-old’s home claiming she needed roofing work carried out.
A Central Scotland Police spokeswoman said: “The woman turned down the work and, after a short conversation, the man left. However she noticed once he had gone that her handbag was missing.
“While this woman did everything right in refusing the man entry to her home, she left the door unattended for a short time.
‘‘Our advice is if you have somebody at the door and you need to leave them on your doorstep use your security chain if you have one or lock the door until you return.”
The man police are keen to trace is described as being around 30 years old, with fair hair and wearing a checked shirt.
