The burnt remains of a snake have been found on a river path in Carronshore.
The grim find was discovered on Monday by a Carronshore resident walking her dogs on the pathway along the river near The Avenue.
The snake had been placed in a cardboard box before it was sickeningly set ablaze.
Scottish SPCA Inspector Nicola Liddell said: “We are appealing for information after the burned remains of a snake were found in Falkirk. A member of the public made the grim discovery whilst walking her dogs at The Avenue in Carronshore.
“The snake had been set alight in a cardboard box on the riverside pathway.
“We are awaiting the results of a post mortem which will establish the cause of death and if the snake was alive when it was set on fire.”
