An alcoholic thief has been given a last chance to stay out of jail.
Repeat offender Gareth Allman (34) has until February 4 to fully comply with two community orders - or face custody.
Falkirk Sheriff Court heard last Thursday these date from January and November last year.
His lawyer claimed Allman’s booze habit was to blame for him failing to co-operate with social workers.
Murray Aitken said: “He is an alcoholic and accepts he has to change.”
Sheriff Linda Smith told Allman, 13 Letham Cottages, Letham: “It would almost have been a miracle if you had managed to stay sober over Christmas and New Year. There is an argument a short term in custody might sober you up. I’ll continue both orders until next month, but the progress report had better be glowing.”
