Appearing at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday, Charles Shirlaw (69) admitted the assault at his home on December 12 last year.
Sean Maher, procurator fiscal depute, said: “A number of family members were at the address. The accused was in another room drinking by himself. Some time later that day he joined them in the conservatory, and began shouting and swearing at the complainer.

“The accused let them in, and he was then arrested.”
The court heard Shirlaw was a first offender and that he and his wife were now “getting on well” together, with no further issues.
Sheriff Derek Hamilton fined Shirlaw, c/o Poolewe Drive, Redding, £400 to be paid within 30 days.
He added: “Hopefully this Christmas goes a bit better.”
