Punched hole in toilet door

A couple's drunken argument got out of hand when the boyfriend lost his temper and punched a hole in the bathroom door.

Brian McAuley (45), 40d Kelvin Street, Grangemouth, appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday having previously admitted behaving in a threatening manner at an address in Watling Street, Camelon, on October 3.

Samantha Brown, procurator fiscal depute, said: “The accused has been in relationship with the complainer for three years. On the day in question they had consumed alcohol and he began to become abusive, questioning her about her perceived infidelity with her downstairs neighbour, calling her a slut and a cow.

“She went to the toilet and heard a loud bang at the door. She saw there was a hole in the door which the accused had punched. She then called the police.

“The accused shouted and swore at the police officers when they arrived.”

Defence solicitor Simon Hutchison said: “He is not a regular offender and his last two domestic matters were with a previous partner. He sees his relationship with this lady as still on a good footing.”

McAuley, who said he was taking steps to deal with his alcohol consumption, was placed on a supervised community payback order for two years with the condition he complete 100 hours unpaid work within four months.
