Pulled plug to flush cop's notebook

A thief who once tried to flush a police officer's notepad down a toilet was told she faced jail if she committed another crime.

Sarah Jane O’Neil, 22 Summerford Road, Bantaskine, has stolen cash from Forth Valley Royal Hospital’s maternity unit on May 5, 2014 and, later that year, damaged property by plunging the officer’s notebook into a toilet at Stirling Police Station on October 25.

Her other offences include obtaining £30 by fraud at Asda, Newmarket Street, Falkirk, on June 3 last year and behaving in a threatening manner in Main Street, Bainsford, on July 13, 2015.

O’Neil appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court on June 23 and told her community orders for these crimes were being revoked and she was free to go – as long as she did not offend again.

Sheriff Craig Caldwell said: “There is no benefit to taking up the time of the criminal justice social work team who try to engage with you. I revoke the order, but when you re-offend you will go straight to custody because there will be no alternative.”
