Prison sentence for Bonnybridge BBQ thief

An offender who broke into a garden shed to pinch a barbecue, gas bottle and bag of compact discs will not be creeping into anyone’s back door for the next few months.

Craig Lees (39) appeared from custody at Falkirk Sheriff Court via video link on Thursday having pled guilty to the theft he committed at a premises in Sinclair Place, Bainsford on March 6 last year. He also admitted failing to attend court on April 3, 2019.

The court heard Lees, who has been a drug addict since he was 16, had taken himself off to a religious retreat in Stoke-on-Trent to “help him with his problems”.

Sheriff Derek Hamilton heard Lees, 36 Bonnyside Road, Bonnybridge, had been remanded in custody for five months and was expecting a prison sentence for an offence being dealt with a Livingston Sheriff Court.
