Three men threatened a female shopkeeper in Dunipace and forced her to hand over cash before fleeing the scene in a high-speed car.

The incident happened at the Aniel Brothers store in Northfield Road at 8.55 p.m. yesterday.

The suspects entered the premises, threatened the sole staff member present and then drove off in a dark coloured vehicle believed to be an Audi parked nearby.

They were wearing dark clothing, had their faces were covered, and were last seen driving from Barnego Road towards Stirling Street in Dunipace and possibily on towards Denny.

DI Graeme Hendry said: “This was a very distressing situation for the lone female shopkeeper, although thankfully she was not seriously injured. We have a dedicated team of officers working to trace the suspects and we are appealing for members of the public to come forward who may have information that can assist with our enquiries.”

Chief Inspector Mandy Paterson said: “I’d like to reassure residents in the Denny area that incidents like these are rare, and we are working to trace the suspects. We will have high visibility patrols in the area to offer reassurance to the community while we work to find those responsible.”

Anyone who was in the area at the time and has information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
