Police confirm man's body found in canal

A body was discovered in the Forth & Clyde Canal this afternoon.

Police have confirmed the man’s body was found in the water, close to St Mungo’s High School, around 3pm.

A spokesperson said: “Police were called to the Forth and Clyde Canal at lock six near Bainsford at around 3pm today after a man’s body was discovered in the water.

“His death is currently being treated as unexplained however there are no suspicious circumstances at this time.

“Officers are now in the process of informing his next of kin and as in all cases of sudden death a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
