A petrol station has been targeted by an armed raider for the second time in a year

Police are hunting the masked robber who held up staff at the Murco garage in Bowhouse, Maddiston, at 9.45 p.m. on Friday.

The man, who was wearing a balaclava, threatened workers with a weapon and demanded money.

He is described as 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in tall and of stocky build with a local accent. He was wearing a grey camouflage jacket, dark trousers, dark trainers with white soles and black gloves.

Police have appealed for witnesses after the raider escaped with various stolen items.

DS John Burgoyne said: “Although no-one was harmed during this robbery, it was still upsetting for those who witnessed it.

“It is essential that we trace this man as soon as possible. Anyone who has information, or recognises the description of the man, is asked to contact Police Scotland immediately.”

In June 2014, an armed man got away with a four-figure sum after robbing the petrol station.
