A gazebo was destroyed and blood-stained tissues and cigarette ends were left within the grounds of Stenhousemuir Primary School’s nursery during the incident – the third of its kind to happen this term.

In the wake of the vandalism – thought to have taken place between Friday, October 2 and Monday, October 5 – heartbroken mums and dads have given to an online crowdfunding page to support the school.

Emma McIlwraith, who set up the page, wrote: “It’s happened a number of times now and it makes me so sad for our children.

“Whoever the culprits are they have wrecked the gazebo, broken equipment, left disgusting bloody tissues, cigarette ends amongst other things!

“This is the only outdoor space our little children at the nursery have. And with the current climate and the ‘bubbles’ that the children need to play in (to follow current guidelines and stay safe), this outdoor space is imperative and a lifeline to the nursery and our wee children.

"The school are very short of funds and I was hoping that we could raise enough money to help replace equipment and toys or with security measures such as extra lighting so we can keep our nursery safe.”
