One arrest in Falkirk district as lockdown rules prepared to ease

Two people were fined in Falkirk district and one arrested for breaking lockdown rules in the week leading up to lockdown restrictions being eased.

The latest figures on the use of emergency coronavirus powers have been issued by Police Scotland.

From May 21 to 27 – the day before the First Minister announced details of what restrictions would be eased – officers locally made one arrest of someone failing to comply with government rules, and they issued two fixed penalty notices.

In the seven days prior to May 21 they made no arrests and issued just one fixed penalty notices.

Across the district according to the latest figures, 18 people dispersed after being “informed”, while one person moved on after being “instructed” to do so by officers – that’s compared to eight and three respectively during the previous week.

Throughout the lockdown Police Scotland have been thanking people for their ongoing commitment to slowing the spread of Covid-19 by staying at home and sticking to physical distancing guidance.

They are continuing to ask people to follow the government’s guidance now there has been some easing of restrictions.
