Anne-Marie Hyland (39) was actually in Falkirk Sheriff Court on Thursday to answer for the vandalism offences she committed last year but she was in no fit state to appear in the dock.

Gordon Addison, defence solicitor, told the court: “She is present in the building but she’s not with us if you know what I mean.”

Hyland, of no fixed abode, had pled guilty to damaging a fire alarm call point and repeatedly smashing a fire extinguisher against walls in the Premier Inn, Glenbervie, Larbert on November 21 last year.

She also admitted recklessly throwing items and smashing a window at a premises in High Street, Bonnybridge on November 11, 2020.

Sheriff Derek Livingston deferred sentence until January 28 for a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty order assessment.
