John Alexander (48), Brooklyn Cottage, Isle of Skye, appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Thursday having admitted breaching his bail conditions between March 24 and May 16 last year, by contacting the woman and entering Mossgiel Terrace, Laurieston.

Procurator fiscal depute Rachel Wallace said: “He arrived and resided with the witness and he became verbally confrontational, accusing her of having an affair while he was away.

“Then when the accused had been at a friend’s house and returned to the witness’s home address she became concerned he would become confrontational once he was within the address.

“She told him he was not welcome at the property and she then contacted the police, who arrived and found the accused within the address. The witness said she just wanted the accused removed.

“He was arrested and told police his fiancee needed him to come down from Broadford – which is 25 miles down from Portree – to take care of her because she has MS and he was her carer.

“He said she wanted him to be with her and he knew he was on bail and she knew she was on bail.”

The court heard Alexander was doing some “casual” work on a friend’s house on the Isle of Skye.

Sheriff Derek Livingston said it was “unusual for someone to prefer to be in Falkirk instead of Skye” and he fined Alexander £540 to be paid back at a rate of £100 per month.
