Officers are not thought to be looking for anyone else in connection with this incident, however anyone with information relevant to the ongoing investigation is asked to contact police.

Falkirk Area Commander Chief Inspector Damian Armstrong said: “We believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public.

“I would like to thank the local community for their patience and support while we were in attendance to deal with this matter.

“If you have any information relevant to our inquiries then please contact police immediately.”

There was a police presence in the town late into the night and a helicopter was also spotted in the area although it is unclear if this is related to the earlier incident.
