On February 22, the bully approached him as he walked past the Howgate Shopping Centre and warned: “I’ve got a beef with you. You think you are a hard man. I’m going to murder you.”

On March 24, Buchanan, 34 Cumbrae Drive, Falkirk, went to the home of another young man and made abusive remarks to his mum when she opened the door and police were called.

At Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday, and as a direct alternative to prison, Buchanan (20) was placed on a 12-month supervised community payback order and told to complete 120 hours’ unpaid work in six months.

Defence lawyer Andy Bryson said: “He has a problem with shooting his mouth off, especially when he has a drink in him.”
