Mum gets police reception as she takes cannabis into YOI

Police officers were waiting for a woman who was attempting to bring cannabis into Polmont Young Offenders Institution.

Appearing at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday, Margaret Andrews (48) had already pled guilty to possessing the class B drug with intent to supply it to others at the YOI in Redding Road, Brightons on May 26.

The court heard the police, who were acting on intelligence they had received, were waiting for Andrews when she arrived at the YOI.

She claimed the state of her mental health prevented her doing unpaid work.

Sheriff Craig Caldwell placed Andrews, Flat 2, 28 Cockenzie Street, Greenfield, Glasgow, on a 12-month supervised community payback order.
