Man charged with smashing 27 windows at school

A young man has been charged with smashing 27 windows at a high school during a 'mindless' rampage with a big pole.

A 21-year-old is accused of entering the grounds of Denny High School and using a pole to shatter the windows.

Police say the reason for the “mindless act of malicious damage” is unknown.

Police say the male was quickly identified and was arrested at 8am the same morning. He was charged with committing the damage which will cost around £8100 to repair.

The enquiry was led by the police officer based at the school, PC Iain Taylor, who said: “This type of behaviour has no place in our society. To cause such extensive damage to one of our learning establishments is totally unacceptable.

“This school benefits not only the children but provides facilities for our wider community. The cost of repairing the damage caused by this male will have a lasting effect on the school.”

The man appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court yesterday.
