Ross Pearson (41), 40 Forgie Crescent, Maddiston, had been drinking while he watched a football match at home on October 17.

Procurator fiscal depute Ann Orr said: “He seems to have become more and more agitated and consumed more alcohol while watching the football.
“In the course of becoming more agitated, he began to shout about money. The witness tried to intervene and the accused thereafter began to punch her on her side and kicked her leg.
“He was becoming more threatening, saying he would batter her if she didn’t get more money and was continuing to shout and swear.

Defence solicitor Lynn Swann said Pearson had been in a relationship with the woman for 20 years.
She added: “He has no previous domestic offending, albeit the other offending is of a similar nature.
