Martyn Mackintosh (29) texted his partner and gave her the “slightly uneasy” feeling he was stalking her and watching her movements. Then he made his vile threats and police were called.

Mackintosh, 37 Zetland Drive, Laurieston, appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Thursday, having pled guilty to sending offensive and menacing messages to his partner between May 4 and May 14.

Sean Maher, procurator fiscal depute, said: “The complainer received a text from him saying ‘late night the night’. She took this as a sign he was watching her and felt slightly uneasy.

“She asked if he was stalking her and he replied ‘LOL’. He then sent her texts calling her a slut and an unfit mother, stating ‘I find another man near my kids, I will come down and slit your throat and give you the battering you deserve – I’m coming round at 5pm to slit your throat’.”

Defence solicitor Kevin Douglas said: “This offence was committed in the context of a relationship coming to an end. He accepts he acted badly, but didn’t follow any of this through.

"He considers the relationship now at an end.”

Sheriff Christopher Shead placed Mackintosh on a community payback order with the condition he complete 150 hours unpaid work within a period of 12 months. He also made him subject to a non-harassment order not to contact his partner in any way for nine months.
