Larbert High launches probe over claim pupils vandalised Stenhousemuir home

A Falkirk district school has vowed to “take appropriate action” following claims a group of pupils vandalised a home.

Larbert High is looking into an incident in Main Street in Stenhousemuir last Wednesday which is thought to have involved a “small minority” of students.

One resident told The Falkirk Herald they had eggs thrown at their windows, rubbish tipped into their garden and fencing damaged by Larbert High pupils.

Colin Meikle, Larbert High acting rector, said: “The vast majority of our pupils are responsible citizens and have very high standards of behaviour and it is disappointing that a small minority engage in this negative behaviour.

“We continually reinforce high expectations with all of our young people regarding their conduct in and out of the school and take any complaint from a member of the community seriously.

“We are currently trying to identify the pupils involved and will take appropriate action.”

A police spokesman said: “We are not aware of a particular issue with anti-social behaviour or disorder specifically within Main Street, Stenhousemuir.

“A vandalism to a house in Main Street, Stenhousemuir was reported to police on September 9, 2020 and inquiries are ongoing, however, we have not received a significant number of calls suggesting that there are ongoing issues related to young people in this area.

“The Community Policing Team have a strong relationship with Larbert High School and regularly work in partnership in an effort to prevent issues such as this.

“Local officers will be carrying out increased patrols in this area.”

Anti-social behaviour can be reported to police on 101.
