Larbert dangerous driver ignored blue lights and red lights

A motorists ignored police signals to stop and then drove through red traffic lights, mounted kerbs and grass verges and ploughed into a field all while driving at excessive speeds.

David Phillips (20) appeared from custody via video link at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday, having pleaded guilty to dangerous driving on the M876 between Larbert and Bowtrees Services, driving at excessive speeds, failing to stop for police officers when signalled to do so, failing to stop for red traffic lights and driving into a field on May 27.

He also admitted driving without a licence and driving with no insurance.

Sheriff Simon Collins QC deferred sentence on Phillips, Flat 1, 38 Graham Avenue, Larbert, until July 22 for a criminal justice social work report and restriction of liberty order assessment to be carried out.

Phillips’ request for bail was denied by Sheriff Collins and he was remanded in custody.
