A row over ‘fag money’ ended with a 23-year-old being arrested for assaulting his partner.

Hayden Black lost his temper while they were driving to a party on July 15 and grabbed her by the hair after she refused to give him cash to buy cigarettes.

At Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday Black, 64 Seaforth Road, Langlees, was placed on a supervised community order for two years to address his anger management issues and given six months to complete 135 hours unpaid work.

Sheriff Derek Livingston told him: “You need to grow up. It’s children who throw tantrums when they are refused money.”

Defence lawyer Martin Morrow said the couple are still together and intend to marry.
