Inmate attacked staff at Polmont YOI

Louis Wingate (19) appeared from custody via video link at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday having pleaded guilty to assaulting a prison officer – punching him on the head – at Polmont Young Offenders Institution.

Wingate, who committed the offence on January 5 last year was still remanded in custody at the YOI.

Sheriff Craig Harris deferred sentence on Wingate, St Philips Children’s Unit, 10 Main Street, Plains, Airdrie, until June 16 to allow a criminal justice social work report to be carried out.
