Hit-and-run suspect remanded

A man accused of a hit-and-run incident which left a family in hospital has been remanded in custody.

Greg Buchanan (24) is accused of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, having no vehicle MOT, failing to stop after an accident and not reporting it as well as not giving the correct identity of the driver to police officers.

He appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court and made no plea or declaration before being remanded. He is due to appear again this week for full committal.

The incident happened at around 10pm last Tuesday at the junction of Majors Loan and Gartcows Road in Falkirk.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service say firefighters from Falkirk and Larbert were called at 10.08pm and removed the roof of a Volvo V50 a man, woman and child were travelling in, before the occupants were taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital by ambulance.

It is alleged the driver of a Volkswagen Golf GTI, which was involved in the crash, fled the scene on foot afterwards.

The woman sustained serious injuries while the male was treated for minor injuries.

The girl also sustained minor injuries and was also taken to hospital for treatment.
