Grangemouth woman struck hospital patient on head with crutch

A woman who assaulted another patient at Forth Valley Royal Hospital by striking her on the head with a crutch has had her sentence deferred.

Brenda Black (47), 48 Beauly Court, appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday in relation to the incident which happened on October 15, 2019.

The assault caused the victim to fall to the ground to her injury.

The court heard the victim was in the television room of ward one at the hospital when she was struck from behind.

Black’s defence solicitor said it occurred in a ward mainly for psychiatric issues and his client has had mental health problems.

Sheriff Mundy deferred sentence on Black for six months, until September 17, for her to be of good behaviour and to comply with another order.
