Grangemouth offender hit cops with police van door

Two female police officers were struck by the rear door of their own vehicle when an offender lashed out with his legs as he was being placed inside.

Just before his violent act David Young (29) had been arrested for another offence.

Appearing at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday, Young had previously admitted the assault he committed in Kingseat Avenue, Grangemouth on March 21 last year.

The court heard police received a call about a male causing a disturbance in Bowhouse Road, Grangemouth.

“The accused was arrested due to an earlier incident,” said the procurator fiscal depute. “He was placed in handcuffs and taken to the police vehicle. He was placed in the cell area of the vehicle and at this point he kicked out at the door causing it to strike police officers.”

Sheriff James MacDonald deferred sentence on Young, 135 Kingseat Avenue, Grangemouth, for six months to see if he could be of good behaviour.
