Grangemouth offender dug her nails into police officer's arm

Amanda Miller (47) appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday having admitted the assault she committed in Sealock Court, Grangemouth on May 23 last year.

Rachel Wallace, procurator fiscal depute, said: “It was 8.50pm and police attended at the address in response to a call about a disturbance. The accused began to throw her arms about, striking out at officers.

“They asked her to stop but she continued hitting out so they had no option but to contain her and place hands on her, telling her she was under arrest.

“The accused then put her nails into a police officer’s arm, although she did not break the skin.

"She was placed in the rear of a police van and said ‘I didn’t mean to assault you, but I did – I’m sorry.”

Defence solicitor Lynn Swan said Miller was an occasional user of cannabis.

Sheriff Derek Livingston fined Miller, 29 Hawthorn Street, Grangemouth, £210 to be paid back at £10 per fortnight.
