Grangemouth offender downed bottle of Buckfast and threatened to slit his 'Fat Maw's' throat

A drunken thug threatened to kill his mother on two seperate occasions saying he would slit her throat and burn her in a house fire.

Anthony Shaw (28) flew into a rage without warning at his mum's home in Kingseat Avenue, Grangemouth and made the threat to kill her.

Appearing from custody at Falkirk Sheriff Court via a video link from Low Moss Prison, Shaw, Tummel Place, Grangemouth, had pled guilty to threatening behaviour

towards his mother on January 23. He also admitted making similar threats against his mother on March 9.

Procurator fiscal Catherine Fraser said: “He had been drinking heavily, having consumed one-and-a-half bottles of Buckfast tonic wine. For no reason that could be

seen, he began acting aggressively towards his mother, stating he was going to slit her throat.”

Then, “mumbling under his breath”, he stormed from the living room to the kitchen of the property in Kingseat Avenue, punched holes in a door and pulled on it,

breaking it in half, and tore a light fitting out of the ceiling.

Police were called and Shaw was arrested.

During the March 9 incident, Shaw told police he was going to “kill my fat maw”.

Murray Aitken, defence solicitor, said: “His relationship with his mother is a difficult one. They get on well normally.”

“When he's not threatening to slit her throat,” said Sheriff Derek Hamilton, who jailed Shaw for four months for the January incident, backdating the sentence to March 10.

He also imposed a four month restriction of liberty order, with an electronic ankle tag to fitted, and a 6pm to 6am curfew, for the March incident.
