Grangemouth man charged with causing person's death

A Grangemouth man stands accused of the culpable homicide of a person following an alleged assault which is said to have caused the victim to hit his head on a radiator.

Ian Day (29) is charged with killing Reece Cairney by punching him on the head, pushing him on the body causing him to fall onto furniture, and then pushing him again, causing him to strike his head on a radiator.

The incident is said to have occurred on May 16 in Mr Day's flat in Kerse Road, Grangemouth.

Mr Day, represented by defence solicitor Simon Hutchison, appeared on petition at Falkirk Sheriff Court earlier today.

He made no plea at the brief, private hearing before Sheriff Jamie Gilchrist QC.

He was fully committed and granted bail.
