Grangemouth addict acts up in Forth Valley Royal

A drug addict escorted to hospital by police began acting so aggressively officers had to physically restrain her and apply handcuffs.

Leanne Muir’s patience was wearing thin as she waited for treatment and she became more and more vocal, shouting and swearing at police officers who were just trying to help her.

Appearing from custody at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Thursday, Muir (32) had admitted behaving in a threatening manner at the Larbert ‘s Forth Valley Royal Hospital on May 27.

Sarah Smith, procurator fiscal depute, said: “It was 9pm and police had taken the accused to Forth Valley Royal Hospital treatment area where a number of other patients were present. Her behaviour was becoming ever more volatile and, as a result, officers had remained at the hospital with her.

“At 10.30pm more police arrived to relieve the officers already there and the accused, who was unhappy about waiting for medical attention, began swearing at officers.

“She was acting in such an aggressive manner officers had to take control of her, applying handcuffs. She shouted at officers ‘arrest me then and let me leave’.”

The court heard Muir had received a two year prison sentence at the High Court on December 17 for another matter.

Her earliest liberation date is December 2021.

Sheriff Derek Livingston said: “The court always regards it as serious when people like you start misbehaving in hospital.”

He sentenced Muir, 105 Kingseat Avenue, Grangemouth, to a further 60 days in prison to be added onto her current stretch.
