Good Samaritian robbed in Bainsford after trying to stop car thief

A brave man who stopped a thief trying to break into a Mercedes ended up being robbed himself.

The 50-year-old witnessed a young man attempting to force open the car on Friday morning in Bainsford’s Carronside Street and challenged him.

But the suspect then threatened the man and stole a sum of money from him before making off.

Detective Sergeant Steven Hoggan said: “The victim attempted to stop a car being broken into and was in turn targeted by the suspect, who we are keen to trace as soon as possible.”

The suspect is described as white, between 17 and 20-years-old, 5ft 8ins tall and wearning a dark hooded top and dark jeans.
