A man was attacked after going to the aid of a drunken teenager in Grangemouth
Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after the incident at the Little Kerse playing fields in the town at around 10.20pm on Friday.
As the sports centre was closing for the evening, a man spotted a teenage couple sitting on a bench. The boy appeared to be drunk so he offered his assistance.
However, a group of youths then arrived on the scene and attacked the 55-year-old, knocking him to the ground. They then ran off in the direction of Grange Road.
One of the youngsters is described as being in his mid to late teens, 5ft 8in tall, of slim build with short dark hair. He was wearing a black, puffy body warmer with a long-sleeved top underneath. A girl in the group was seen to be wearing pink clothing.
Sergeant Craig Heron said: "This was an unprovoked assault on a well-meaning gentleman who was looking to help. Instead, he ended up being the subject of an attack which left him shaken but uninjured.
''I appeal to those who were present to do the decent thing and come forward as witnesses''
Anyone who can help police with their inquiries is asked to call 101.
