The 32-year-old targeted sheds at eight properties in Allandale Cottages on April 13 last year and stole fishing tackle, electrical equipment, garden tools – and a gaming machine.

When he appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday, it was explained that the value of the property taken was over £4000 and the bulk of it was not recovered.

Thomson, from Livingston, is currently serving a prison sentence for another offence and was due to be released on June 1.

Sheriff John Mundy ordered the nine-month jail term to start on that date.
