Falkirk valium abuser wasted police time with tall tales about kidnapping

Angry at policing confiscating his mobile phone a “complete mess” of a drug abuser started tellign them outlandish tales of being robbed at knife point and kidnapped.

Alexander Young (30) appeared from custody via video link at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Thursday having admitted wasting police officers’ time at The Castings, Castings Avenue, Falkirk on February 20.

Procurator fiscal depute Sean Maher said Young contacted police to try and get his phone returned to him after it had been removed while he was in custody.

He claimed he had been robbed by someone carrying a machete and had been kidnapped in Edinburgh.

The court heard Young was “going through a very difficult time” and was a “complete mess” due to his “chaotic” drug abuse.

Sheriff Derek Hamilton placed Young, 49 Grange Drive, Falkirk, on a supervised community payback order for 12 months and made him subject to a restriction of liberty order to remain in his home between 6pm and 6am for next three months.
