Michael Muldoon (30) appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Thursday having pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour in Falkirk Police Station, West Bridge Street, Falkirk, on January 13 this year and Mary Street, Laurieston on March 25, 2019.

Referring to the 2021 offence, Sean Maher, procurator fiscal depute, said: “It was 2am and Mr Muldoon was in Falkirk Police Station in relation to other matters. On arrival he became aggressive towards police officers before he was placed in a cell.

“A check on his medical status was carried out and he swore at the nurse, calling her a ‘slag’. She was forced to leave the cell for her own safety. Mr Muldoon then called police ‘paedos’ and stated they had sex with their children.

"He shouted he would find out where they lived and where their colleagues lived and would hurt their families.”

Late last year, a bizarre turn of events led to Muldoon coming to the attention of police.

Mr Maher said: “The witness was cleaning windows at a property in Mary Street. This particular window looked onto the car park and he became aware of males, including Mr Muldoon, walking in the direction of the underpass.

"Mr Muldoon appeared to be filming the other male using a mobile phone. The other male was seen to pull at the front of his trousers, but was not seen to expose himself.

“Then the witness saw the male pull his trousers down to his knees and Mr Muldoon continued to record this on his phone. Thereafter they walked out of sight and the matter was reported to police.

“Officers attended, driving in the direction the males had been seen to take. A short time later Mr Muldoon was found in Mary Street and officers engaged with him, noting he matched the description they had been given.

“On being informed about the reason he was stopped Mr Muldoon began to shout and swear at officers. He was arrested and assistance from further police officers was required.

"He continued shouting, calling officers ‘stupid wee lassies’ and threatened officers saying they were ‘getting it’. He continued to shout and swear when he was placed in the police vehicle asking officers ‘Why am I getting done?’.”

The court heard Muldoon was said to have seen red when officers suggest there had been some kind of sexual element to the incident.

Defence solicitor Martin Morrow said: “Mr Muldoon and his friend had been drinking and falling about. His friend thought he was being funny and Mr Muldoon recorded this. There was no one around and they weren’t aware someone from a vantage point had seen them.

“Police pointed out the idea to him that something sexually offensive had happened. He is not someone who has had to deal with an allegation like that before and he reacted to that suggestion and lost his temper.

"He would have been better served keeping a civil tongue in his head.”

Sheriff Christopher Shead revoked the existing community orders and sentenced Muldoon, 32 St John’s Avenue, Falkirk, to 10-and-a-half months in prison.
