Falkirk police host bike marking event to combat theft issue

A bike marking event was held by police in Falkirk following a spate of thefts.

Officers set up a mobile unit at Callendar House yesterday and encouraged cyclists to stop by to have their bike tagged.

As well as the marking service, police also passed on safety information to children and adults.

A number of bikes were stolen from homes in the Bainsford, Denny and Larbert areas just last week.

Sergeant Alyn Blyth, of Falkirk Police Station, said: “There appears to be a slight rise in pedal cycle thefts which might be because more are being used during the lockdown.

“The age-old advice of lock it or lose it is pertinent.”
