Nathan Scott (24) appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday having admitted the assault he committed at his 51B Strowan Road, Grangemouth home on May 12 last year.

Procurator fiscal depute Sean Maher said: “At 3.20am the complainer and Mr Scott were at the address. He began to argue with her in respect of a previous relationship.

"He approached her and struck her to the head.”

The court heard Scott described as “not perhaps the most astute individual”.

It was stated alcohol played a part in the offence and the couple were considering resuming the relationship.

Mr Maher said: “The complainer was not supportive of any prosecution in this matter. She said ‘it was a big mistake’ due to them both being intoxicated.”

Sheriff Christopher Shead placed Scott on a supervised community payback order for 18 months.
