A woman with two previous drink driving offences was banned for 15 years after being caught behind the wheel again four times over the legal limit.
Appearing at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday, Ann McLean (54), 31 Castings Avenue, Falkirk, previously pled guilty to the drink driving offence she committed in Kendieshill Avenue, Maddiston, on June 27. She gave a reading of 96 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, when the legal limit is 22 microgrammes.
Stephen Biggam, defence solicitor, said: “After a number of family difficulties alcohol has become a coping mechanism for her.”
Sheriff Linda Smith said: “You came very close to receiving a custodial sentence in this matter – your third drink driving conviction in ten years.”
As well as being disqualified from driving for 15 years, McLean was placed on a supervised community payback order for two years.
