Drunk's crashed car had to be written off

Drunk driver Marc Gibbon damaged his car so badly in a crash it had to be written off.

The 23-year-old from 232 Bowhouse Road, Grangemouth, was nearly five times over the legal limit when he got behind the wheel on September 27.

He hit a parked car in Bowhouse Road and failed to stop and report the accident to police. He was also driving without insurance.

At Falkirk Sheriff Court Gibbon was disqualified for 25 months and told to complete 150 hours of unpaid work as a direct alternative to custody. He was also ordered to forfeit his car.

Defence lawyer Simon Hutchison said: “It was so badly damaged it was uneconomic to repair.”
