Driver (72) feels latest ban will be for life

A 72-year-old motorist with a history of driving offences admitted he will probably never get behind the wheel again.

Joseph Faichnie, 34 Anderson Drive, Carron, appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday, having already admitted failing to provide a breath specimen at Falkirk Police Station after being stopped by officers in Kincardine Road, Carronshore on March 6.

Defence solicitor Stephen Biggam said: “He is now 72 and has taken the view, given the inevitably lengthy disqualification, he is never going to drive again. He knows he shouldn’t have been behind the wheel and he should have co-operated with police.”

Sheriff Craig Caldwell banned Faichnie from driving for four years and ordered him to complete 140 hours of unpaid work within six months.
