Denny thug attacked man over £10 debt

Robert Campbell (46), 50 Broad Street, Denny, let himself into the man’s home and then punched him to the face a number of times before leaving.
Campbell appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday having pled guilty to the assault he committed in Broad Street, Denny on March 17.

Hide AdThe court heard Campbell was asked to for a loan of money by the complainer and he gave him £10. The incident began when Campbell later showed up at the complainer’s door.
“The accused chapped the door before allowing himself in,” said the procurator fiscal depute. “He went into the kitchen area and began to look around. He was asked to stop looking around.
“The accused then began to punch the complainer to the face several times, causing him to fall to the ground. The accused then left.”
Police attended and the victim, who had slight injuries including redness to the face, refused any medical treatment.

Hide AdMartin Morrow, defence solicitor, said: “At the time he was homeless and had limited money. He lent this man money – it was £10. When you’re homeless I suppose £10 takes on a significance it might not otherwise have.”
Sheriff Derek Livingston said: “You now seem to get the idea this isn’t acceptable behaviour.”
He ordered Campbell to pay £350 to the victim at a rate of £15 per week.
